Agrihance-V Gives Struggling Corn a Boost

WestinRink (2) pictureWestin Rink, an account manager and agronomist with Jackson Jennings Co-op in Corydon, Indiana, was looking for a product to help a local grower with a struggling corn crop.

The corn was planted in some really wet conditions and was struggling to uptake nutrients.  After hearing about Monty’s Agrihance program, Rink recommended an application of Agrihance-V, a foliar plant food designed to deliver readily available nutrients to crops during the vegetative stage. Agrihance-V also assists during stress periods and provides for robust crop growth, increasing opportunities for maximized yields.

“We applied half gallon per acre when we sprayed glyphosate to help perk the corn up a bit,” Rink said.

The application was done in late June of 2012 and Rink noted that the tank-mix flexibility of Monty’s Agrihance was a selling point because it saved a trip through the field.

“It did a good job. It really did,” Rink said of the Agrihance-V application.  “We thought it would take a little longer to work and wear off quicker than it actually did, but it really improved the appearance of the plants and helped bring them out of the funk they were in from the wet ground.  We didn’t leave a test strip in the field, but I feel that the Agrihance helped from a yield standpoint as well.”

The farm, located in Palmyra, Ind., had 80 acres of yellow field corn.

“Without Agrihance-V, I think the plants would have continued to struggle,” said Rink.  “It definitely improved the situation.  For corn that was unhealthy and had poor root development, it was a way to get nutrients on through foliar feeding while we were already spraying over the crop.”

Agrihance-V is part of Monty’s Agrihance three-step nutrient management program, which uses innovative and proprietary humic technology designed to help farmers reach their goal of maximum yield.  Learn more about Monty’s Agrihance-V here.
