Monty’s Plant Food Introduces New Organic Product, Dri-Sulfur 42

Monty’s Plant Food Company, manufacturer of natural soil enhancement and plant fertility programs designed to maximize crop yields, has introduced Dri-Sulfur 42™ enriched with Monty’s Dri-CarbonTM Soil Conditioner, a granular nutrient and soil conditioner designed to help enhance plant development while addressing deficiencies in soil.

Monty’s Dri-Sulfur 42 enriched with Dri-Carbon is processed using Monty’s proprietary active humic technology to help enhance plant development and soil health.

Sulfur is an essential nutrient for plant growth and is necessary in chlorophyll formation for better production and utilization of sugar, proteins and carbohydrates. It has been shown to help develop enzymes and vitamins that aid plant metabolism, promote nodulation for nitrogen fixation in legumes in both seed and vegetative stages and aid in seed production in the reproductive stage.

Dri-Sulfur42 BagSulfur is supplied naturally from the decomposition of organic material in the soil and from deposition from the air.  Clean Air laws have decreased the amounts of sulfur supplied by deposition. Combined with increased crop yields, the amount of sulfur available naturally is insufficient to meet crop needs in many areas.

“Sulfur is a secondary plant nutrient with most crops requiring ten to fifteen pounds per acre,” said Charles Hubbard, an agronomist in Virgina. “In my experience, additional sulfur needs to be supplied for all crops in lighter sandy loam soils, and many crops grown on clay loam soils need to be supplemented with sulfur.”

Dri-Sulfur 42 enriched with Dri-Carbon should be applied in the spring or early summer and can be blended or applied with other dry products to reduce passes through the field. It rapidly disperses once it comes into contact with moisture, so spring rains will assist in dispersion through the soil structure.

Recommended application rates range from 10-20 lbs. per acre depending on soil type and soil test results. Light, sandy soils may require heavier applications. Fertile, loam-type soils may require lighter applications. For recommended rates in a particular region or soil type, contact a local ag service dealer.

Dri-Sulfur 42 is available in 50 lb. bags and 2,000 lb. super sacks. To find a Monty’s dealer near you click here.
