Local farmer featured in campaign for montys plant and soil products

Todd Velure, a farmer from the Fargo, North Dakota area, was recently featured in a national Monty’s Plant Food campaign. On his fourth-generation, 3,000-acre farm, Velure and his father raise wheat, corn and soybeans, as well as beef cattle. Velure offered a testimonial about his experience using Monty’s plant and soil products for the campaign.

Two years ago, Velure began using Monty’s plant and soil products designed to deliver readily available nutrients to crops and to increase growth and yield. The products may also assist during stress periods, increasing opportunities for maximized yields.

Velure planted and treated soybean test strips with Monty’s products for two consecutive years on his farm. According to Velure, the results were visible to the naked eye. The treated crops were greener, healthier and larger, and exhibited more pods per plant than the untreated crops. In some cases, he recorded up to double the number of pods in the treated crops.

“I could tell the treated areas were not only getting more nutrients, but that the traditional fertilizer that I had applied was breaking down better and being absorbed more by the crop,” said Velure. “The treated beans just utilized the nutrients more efficiently.”

During his testing, the seasons were full of various weather-related crop stresses ranging from cool, wet springs to summer droughts. Each time Velure saw signs of stress, he would treat his crops with Monty’s.  After each treatment, he saw reduced signs of stress and continued growth.
