\"\"<\/a>Mike Heimbach, a dairy farmer located outside of Selinsgrove,\u00a0 Pennsylvania is relieved to have found a solution to a major odor and texture issue he was experiencing in his million-gallon manure slurry tank.<\/p>\n

For years, Heimbach experienced major issues with compaction of solids in the slurry tank. On several occasions, he had to drain the tank, open the side door, and use a motorized digger to break up the compacted sludge. Often, the manure was so dry and compacted that Heimbach could walk across the encrusted surface.<\/p>\n

Heimbach dealt with complaints following each application of manure on his 1200 acre farm. Complaints about the odor came in from the town mayor, local residents and the local mall, all of which culminated in a visit from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).<\/p>\n

Routinely, Heimbach had to call the mall the day prior to each manure application so that it could reverse the airflow on its HVAC unit in an effort to minimize the manure odor throughout the shopping center.<\/p>\n

The solution to Heimbach\u2019s problems came in the form of Monty\u2019s Plant Food products. 12 months ago, Heimbach began adding a combination of Monty’s Liquid Carbon\u2122 and Monty’s Sludge Relief\u00ae in his tank every two months. The Monty\u2019s mixture liquefies the solids in the tank, and helps eliminate the odor. This combination of products also helps convert the nutrients in the manure into forms which can be taken up by his crops \u2013 thereby reducing his fertilizer costs.<\/p>\n

Heimbach no longer has to warn the mall prior to manure applications, and all complaint calls have ceased. Heimbach has sprayed up to 400,000 gallons of the manure mixture on his farm with no incidents. As an added bonus, Heimbach is also seeing healthier, taller and greener corn crops, due to the availability of the nutrients in the manure.<\/p>\n
